Gordon Parks High School is located on 1212 University Avenue, St Paul. The school builds on the legacy of Gordon Parks, a photographer, writer, and civil rights activist, to help students become thoughtful, active, and successful citizens by providing pathways to graduation and opportunities for lifelong learning. As one of St Paul’s 11 Area Learning Centers that serve nearly 3500 students (over 7000 in the summer), the school is part of a nationally recognized model for providing educational services leading to high school graduation for at-risk and under-served students. Students, staff, and community members came to the school to paint murals on the plywood that covered the building’s windows in honor of George Floyd.
