On the corner of Penn Avenue and West Broadway is 2123 West Broadway (5 Points Building), recognizable from its front plaza and 30-foot high flower vase art sculpture that functions as a Metro-Transit bus shelter. The building is the home of Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ) and KMOJ 89.9 Radio. NAZ closes the achievement and poverty gaps by supporting students of color so they can graduate from high school prepared for college. They served 2,416 children in 2018 with results that pay off in both reading and math performance. KMOJ has long been recognized as the “heart and soul of the Cities.” The radio station uses air-waves to educate and engage Communities of Color to reinstate the affirmative Black image, empowers Communities of Color in lifelong learning of its traditional and modern cultures, spirituality and history, and challenges systems, policies, and practices which are anti-ethical to the image of Communities of Color.
