Turning Point on West Broadway Avenue is an African American organization that serves the African American community by providing culturally sensitive support for chemical health, housing, supporting services, and training. Although overall, the rates of substance abuse among African Americans are similar to those of the general population, African Americans often experience less favorable outcomes upon the completion of substance abuse treatment. Given that the risk factor exposure and vulnerability between African American and White children and youth differ, culturally specific programs that include in-patient, out-patient and after care are crucial to well-being.
