The original title of this resource was “Landscapes of Agony.” Agony is one of the 52,803 Greek words used in the English language and it captures extreme suffering, the emotions that propelled a global movement on racial and social justice. Lake Street is the epicenter of this movement and it can also be a role model for “Hope,” for urban environments that eliminate racial disparities and marginalization. Lake Street is envisioned as one of Minneapolis’ six cultural districts, a destination place where minority businesses thrive while affordability is maintained and gentrification avoided.
